A day in the life of a bookworm

 Book Review
Back to Full Blog

Nothing very exciting or even interesting to report. However, I did finish reading "Ten Big Ones" and "Eleven On Top", which is by the same author, Janet Evanovich. Loved them both. I'm now reading a book called "The Nanny Diaries". I don't have the book close by, and I don't remember who wrote it. Pretty good so far. I think it's like a memoir by a woman who was a Nanny in NYC. And reading my monthly slew of magazines. I'm such an addict. Soap Opera Digest, People, a couple of special Halloween issues, and Woman's Day. I haven't seen the new Real Simple yet. That's my favorite.

Going back to the number books, I love reading books in a series. I've read some of the alphabet books by Sue Grafton. The problem is, I can't remember what I've read. I guess I need to go to the library, make a list of all the books in the series, and sit down and scan each book to see if I've read it. I'd hate to miss out on something good.

That's all for today, class. You're dismissed.

I too am a bookworm. In fact I have so many books that the last time we moved my husband said no way were we moving all those books again. So I guess we're never moving again because my books are, well, mine. I have a sign in my office over my shelves that says THIS IS NOT A LENDING LIBRARY because I never get books back. People say yeah, yeah, I'll bring it back. No problem. Only it is a problem because they don't bring it back and I'd rather have loaned them money than a book. I'm also a magazine junkie and Real Simple happens to be one of my favorites. I also read Sunset and I think Martha Stewart Living Magazine is beautiful all the way through, especially the holiday ones. I find that as I've gotten older (49) that I don't read too much fluff. Used to, I confess, but now there's just not enough time to get to all the good literature out there. I read just about everything but sci fi and fantasy and mystery (although if a mystery is really well written I might take a peek at it.) I read a lot on the Revolutionary War period, the founding fathers, etc., and in my lifetime I will never learn everything there is to know about that part of our history. Some of my favorite books are Animal Dreams by Barbara Kingsolver, A Girl Could Stand Up by Leslie Marshall, and all of Alexander McCall Smith's books (which are in the mystery section but don't at all read like mysteries.) Before parting I would just like to say that your life is NOT little and boring. You're raising a daughter and showing her the world (frogs) and saving butterflies. John Muir said most people are on the world, not in it (or something close to that)and I would say you're a good part of it. Keep well.

I am a bookworm through and through. My husband tells me that I would sleep with a book if I thought I would get any reading done. I am like Linus without a blanket, without my books. I could probably build a house for all the money I spent on books.
